Hulihua is an online word game with a mission: to support and revitalize indigenous languages. It's based on the popular Hawaiian word game but with a focus on language preservation.
Designed to empower communities working to preserve their linguistic heritage, Hulihua allows for the creation of Wordle-style games in native tongues.
While Hulihua currently offers a list of approximately 400 five-letter terms from older texts, this is just the beginning.
The game is continually being updated and expanded, with the goal of eventually including a comprehensive Hawaiian vocabulary.
In the meantime, it already provides a rich selection of valid words, minimizing 'not a valid word' errors.
Both language learners and fluent speakers can benefit from using Hulihua.
Welcome to Hulihua! You're all set to begin. The game board, a 5x6 grid, and the virtual keyboard, equipped with the necessary characters for the native language in the game, are ready for your first guess.
Let's guess by entering your five-letter word using the virtual keyboard. Remember, it must be a valid word in Hulihua's list.
Each guess comes with feedback to help you find the word:
Use the feedback and the revealed letters to guide your next guess. This will help you narrow down the possibilities and make more accurate predictions.
Guess the word in six tries or less to earn your place among the winners!
