Queerdle

The game of Queerdle is a popular word-guessing game inspired by Nyt Wordle, with the unique twist of featuring words relevant to the LGBTQIA+ community.

How to Play

Queerdle follows the same core mechanics as Wordle, but the length of the secret word can sometimes vary (it has been known to be 5, 6, or 7 letters, but is often 7 letters).

The Objective

The goal is to guess the hidden queer-related word within a limited number of attempts (usually six guesses).

Game Setup

Secret Word: The game selects a secret word of a specific length (e.g., 7 letters) from its dictionary of words relevant to queer culture and vocabulary.

Guesses: You are given a set number of rows on the screen, typically six, representing your allowed guesses.

Gameplay Steps

Enter Your First Guess: Type in a valid word of the required length (often a common English word, though the answer word must be a queer term). Press Enter or click the equivalent button to submit your guess.

Analyze the Clues: After each guess, the tiles of the letters will change color to provide feedback:

  • 🟩 Green: The true position in the secret word
  • 🟨 Yellow: The correct location, but in the wrong position in the hidden word
  • ⬜ Gray (or a dull color): The non-including letters in the secret word
  • Use Deduction: Use the color clues to inform your next guess.

  • For Green letters, keep them in the same spot for your subsequent guesses.
  • For Yellow letters, make sure to try them in a different position in your next word.
  • For Gray letters, avoid using them in future guesses as they are eliminated.
  • Continue Guessing: Repeat steps 1-3 until you either guess the correct word (you win!) or run out of your six attempts (you lose).

    Key Difference: The Word List

The main characteristic that sets Queerdle apart is its focus on queer terminology. While your guesses can be any valid English word of the correct length, the target word you are trying to guess will always be a word or phrase that is relevant to the LGBTQIA+ community.
