Dndle

How well do you know D&D (5e) entities? Challenge yourself with DNDle, the daily puzzle game where you guess the monster using stats like STR, DEX, and INT. You have 8 attempts to find the answer. For an extra thrill, try Hard Mode to test your skills without the help of an on-screen keyboard.

A Complete Walkthrough for DNDle

Having struggled through many battles with monsters of all CR levels, I’ve put together the ultimate DNDle guide for newcomers to help you hit the ground running.

1. The Goal

Each day features a new random D&D 5e monster. Your mission is to guess which one it is in 8 tries or fewer, using its core stats as clues.

2. Gameplay Mechanics (Understanding the Colors)

After you enter a monster's name or its stats, the game uses color-coded tiles to show how close you are:

  • 🟩 Green: The stat is perfectly correct. Example: If the STR box turns green with the number 15, the monster definitely has 15 STR.
  • 🟨 Yellow: This number is correct, but in the wrong category. Example: If you guess 12 for CON and it turns yellow, the monster has a 12 in a different stat, like DEX or INT.
  • Gray: This number does not appear in any of the monster's stats.
  • 3. Making Your Guess

There are two options for your first move:

  • Enter Stats Manually: Type in all six attributes (STR, DEX, CON, INT, WIS, CHA) yourself.
  • Pick a Monster: Select a monster from the drop-down list. This will auto-fill its stats, allowing you to check them against the hidden target.
  • 4. Hard Mode (The True Challenge)

If you’re a D&D veteran, go to Settings and toggle on Hard Mode. In this mode, you can’t just type in random numbers. Instead, you must pick a specific monster from the list. This forces you to rely on your knowledge of monster lore and biology rather than just playing a numbers game.

    5. Pro Tips for New Players

  • Avoid random guessing: Use monsters you are familiar with to eliminate wrong numbers early on.
  • Pay attention to Yellow: This is a key hint. If a stat is yellow, try moving that number to a different position in your next attempt.
  • Analyze your progress: After each turn, look back at your previous guesses to see how many options are left.
